Install in your client

One package, fetched by npx on first run. Pick the client you use; every block below is copy-ready once you replace YOUR_KEY.

Updated 2026-10-02

Claude Code

terminal
claude mcp add thiri --env THIRI_API_KEY=YOUR_KEY -- npx -y @bluesprincemedia/thiri-mcp
Adds THIRI to your user-level MCP config. Restart Claude Code, then type /mcp to confirm it is connected.

Claude Desktop

Open Settings, then Developer, then Edit Config. Paste this in, replace YOUR_KEY (keep the quotes), save, then quit Claude completely and reopen it.

claude_desktop_config.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "thiri": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@bluesprincemedia/thiri-mcp"],
      "env": { "THIRI_API_KEY": "YOUR_KEY" }
    }
  }
}
macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json · Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json

If the file already has an mcpServers block, add the thiri entry inside it with a comma before it. Two mcpServers blocks is the most common broken config.

Claude web and mobile (hosted, no install)

In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector. Use the URL below and your key as the bearer token. The hosted server exposes the same tools as the local package and runs on Cloudflare at the edge.

Cursor

Cursor → Settings → MCP → Add new global MCP server, or save as .cursor/mcp.json in your project.

.cursor/mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "thiri": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@bluesprincemedia/thiri-mcp"],
      "env": { "THIRI_API_KEY": "YOUR_KEY" }
    }
  }
}

VS Code (Copilot agent mode)

.vscode/mcp.json
{
  "servers": {
    "thiri": {
      "type": "stdio",
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@bluesprincemedia/thiri-mcp"],
      "env": { "THIRI_API_KEY": "YOUR_KEY" }
    }
  }
}

n8n

In n8n go to Settings, then Community Nodes, then Install, and paste the package name. Add a THIRI API credential with your key. The node exposes all five endpoints and works as a tool for n8n AI Agents.

package
n8n-nodes-thiri

Any language (REST)

Nothing to install. Keep the key in an environment variable and send it as a bearer token.

.env
# .env — never commit this file
THIRI_API_KEY=sk_live_your_key_here
curl
curl -s https://chords.thiri.ai/v2/analyze \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"chord":"Dm7b5","key":"C"}'

Verify the connection

  • Claude Desktop: the tools icon in the chat box lists thiri with its tools. If not, you did not quit all the way.
  • Claude Code: /mcp shows thiri: connected.
  • REST: GET https://chords.thiri.ai/v2/account with your bearer token returns your tier and quota. That is the same call the usage dashboard makes.

Keep the key out of git

The key is a credential. Put it in an env var or your client's config, never in a repo, a screenshot or a prompt you share. Lost or leaked? Rotate it: the old key keeps working for 24 hours, then stops.
